Night Assailant

January 16, 2013

Night Assailant is a Level 3 monster with 200 ATK and 500 DEF that has a very interesting effect.

Most duelists with a Night Assailant take advantage of the Flip Effect which allows you to destroy 1 monster that your opponent controls. The other effect is rarely used, but it can have a lot of benefits. When Night Assailant is sent from the hand to the Graveyard, you can return 1 Flip Effect monster from your Graveyard to your hand except for this card. You can target a Flip Effect monster with a good effect, but this effect allows for a lot of strategies. Although you cannot use this effect on this individual card, you can use this effect on another Night Assailant in your Graveyard. If you have any card effect that requires you to send cards from the hand to the Graveyard, you can send Night Assailant from your hand to the Graveyard and then return another Night Assailant from your Graveyard to your hand. Then you can continue the cycle for as long as you please.

Summing It Up

Night Assailant has a good Flip Effect, but its second effect is an effect that is commonly overlooked. There are many strategies that can be made with Night Assailant’s effect such as XYZ Dragon Cannon being able to destroy all cards that your opponent controls since you would have an unlimited supply of cards to discard (the 2 Night Assailants). Night Assailant is a great card to build strategies, and it can still destroy an opponent’s monster with its Flip Effect.
