Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon

September 27, 2012

Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon is a unique XYZ Monster because it has 2 effects for detaching XYZ Materials, and one of those 2 effects requires you to detach 5 XYZ Materials from the card. For such a cost, I always wonder how good the effect really is. This effect though, it amazing for a Rank 4 monster with only 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF.

Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon is a Rank 4 XYZ Monster with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF that requires 3 Level 4 monsters as the XYZ Materials. Once per turn, you can activate one of the following effects. You can either detach 3 XYZ Materials from this card to destroy all other face-up monsters on the field (which you can do right away), or you can detach 5 XYZ Materials (a bit harder since this card only requires 3 Level 4 XYZ Materials) to destroy all cards that your opponent controls. Destroying all of the cards on your opponent’s side of the field sounds really good, but 5 XYZ Materials can be hard to get especially when there are only 4 cards on the game that provide extra XYZ Materials. Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon has a great effect, and you can destroy all face-up monsters on the field right away, but destroying all cards on your opponent’s side of the field (not any of your cards unlike the first effect) can be a bit harder. Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon still has 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF which proves to be very strong in the event that you cannot destroy your opponent’s face-up monsters (if your opponent springs a Kurivolt on you).
